The countdown is on—Lakeland Lacrosse is gearing up to host one of the region’s most anticipated spring sporting events, with the 2026 Ice Melter Tournament kicking off in just 10 days.
Taking place May 8–10 across multiple venues in the Lakeland region, including Cold Lake, Bonnyville, and Glendon, the Ice Melter continues its legacy as a premier early-season lacrosse tournament, drawing teams from across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and beyond.
Now in its 14th year, the tournament will feature divisions from U9 through U17, with approximately 40 teams expected to compete. Each team is guaranteed three games, with championship matchups set to bring high-energy action to close out the weekend.
“This tournament has become a staple for our association and our communities,” said organizers with the Lakeland Lacrosse Association. “It’s not just about competition—it’s about bringing players, families, and fans together to celebrate the sport.”
Games will run Friday evening through Sunday afternoon, with Bonnyville serving as the main hub. Facilities in Cold Lake and Glendon will also host games, ensuring a full weekend of lacrosse across the region.
In addition to the on-floor action, the Ice Melter will offer a variety of activities for attendees, including raffles, apparel sales, and interactive fan experiences. Volunteers from across the association have stepped up to help run welcome tables, raffle stations, and spectator support roles, ensuring a smooth and welcoming environment for visiting teams.
With excitement building and final preparations underway, organizers encourage the community to come out, support local athletes, and experience the fast-paced sport of lacrosse.
The Ice Melter Tournament runs May 8–10—don’t miss your chance to catch the action as teams battle it out for gold in their divisions.
